Series Report: Zhongshan Station's Construction Fences Beautified
To reduce the visual impact on green landscapes caused by the installation of uniform fences around construction sites, and to mitigate the public's negative reaction to the isolation of fences, the responsible construction unit, DORTS’ Central District Project Office, initiated a fence beautification strategy. Students of Rixin Elementary School were invited to draw on a canvas which was the water-proof cover to be adhered to construction fences. Based on the school's motto, to crave innovation, the students showed excellent creativity in presenting a design that demonstrates innocent colors in a concrete jungle. The fence beautification strategy aims to reduce conflicts arising in areas surrounding construction, and to win local residents’ approval, so as to create a harmonious ambience in the neighborhood. Meanwhile, the colorful drawings on the fences remind busy passing pedestrians of cherished childhood memories.
