Groundbreaking Ceremony for Circular Line's Dapinglin Station

A groundbreaking ceremony marking the commencement of work on the Contract CF641 diaphragm walls and main structure of the Circular line's Dapinglin Station was held on Minquan Road at the intersection of Zhongxin Road and Beixin Road on October 8, 2010. Government officials and local dignitaries were invited to attend the event and pray for safe and expeditious construction of the project.

Construction of the Circular line Phase I starts from Dapinglin in Xindian, passes through Xindian, Zhonghe, and Banqiao, and ends at Wugu Industrial Park Station in Xinzhuang. The section spans 15.4 km and comprises 14 stations and one depot. Contract CF641, the main structure contract covering diaphragm walls and structure construction, has been launched first. Dapinglin Station, located on Minquan Road at the intersection of Zongxin Road and Beixin Road, is a temporary terminal for the first phase of the Circular line. The 165-m-long and 18.4-m-wide station will be equipped with four levels of underground island platforms. Exits will be built on both the east and west sides of the station where passengers can transfer to the Xindian line's Dapinglin Station. The project is being supervised by DORTS' East District Project Office and constructed by RSEA Engineering Corporation.

The Circular line will connect a downtown chessboard network with core transportation corridors that make a radial network. The entire line, built as a medium-capacity system with exclusive right-of-way, spans 34.8 km long and comprises 13 elevated stations, 18 underground stations, and two depots. In the near future, through integration of E&M systems and ticketing system, the line will join the existing routes and routes under planning so as to form a comprehensive network; that is, the route will start from Taipei Zoo Station in the east and run clockwise to connect the Xindian line, Ankeng line (under planning), North-South line (under planning), Zhonghe line, Wanda-Zhonghe-Shulin line, Banqiao line, Xinzhuang line, Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport Access MRT System, Luzhou line, Shezi line (under planning), Tamsui line, and Wenhu line. Considering the huge construction cost for the entire line, the Council for Economic Planning and Development under the Executive Yuan made a resolution that the project be performed in two phases and approved the route alignment for the first phase. Completion of both stages of the line will greatly increase number of connections between Taipei City and Taipei County, helping to not only create co-prosperity, boost business opportunities, and increase international competitiveness but also stimulate development in the surrounding area to forge a more thriving scene.
